Default Shark or Bat

Bat was for us. We have had a 15 RG and are now on our third Ultra. My wife didn't like the RG at all. We put lots of miles on.

I'm 6' my wife is 5'9" we ride a 14 RoadKing with a stock windshield . She never complains about the wind. While on vacation in Florida and Las Vegas we rented bat winged bikes ( Ultra and Limited) , she loved them both. Recently we rode tested a RG ultra, I was surprised at how windy it was.

If you make it clear that you're going to have to work together to find the best fit for both of you it should be a good experience
This is good advice...

Demo rides are the best way to check without any cash - at least initially! Batting fairing with the tallest windshield you're comfortable with.

I'm 5' 11" and the Mrs. is 5' 7" and my shield is a 12" Freedom Shields with the aircurve top. I look through the shield and like the protection. The Mrs. feels no buffering in the calm air pocket.

You also might consider a helmet with a full shield to give her additional comfort. A tinted shield would eliminate the need for her to wear goggles.

The wife loves our 2016 RGU. Being 5'9, she does get a little wind, but is happy as a lark with the cushy ride and all the room she has.

I have a 2016 RGS.My girl friend is 5'5". I put on a 12" long rider shield and bought a seat of an ultra.P52164-10 and a backrest. She sets a little taller but hasn't complained.I wear a half helmet and she wears a 3/4. If I was seriously touring I would get an ultra of some sort. They look more comfortable in every way.

As already mentioned, this is the best advise.

Let her help pick the bike that is good for both of you. Get her a good helmet and good riding gear to keep her warm/cool and comfy. She need to understand that wind is part of it and no bike will completely eliminate it.

Two pages of opinions and it is about an equal mix of batwing, shark nose and road kings. One size does not fit all.

My wife and I ride a 2012 road glide and it took some dollars to get her where I wanted her to be. My experience is if your riding partner isn't happy she will give it up after a while.

My wife doesn't ride with me often, but when she does, she actually loves the feel of the wind.
