Default 107" build choices/results/satisfied

Hey everyone,

Been looking at different threads on 107 builds and looking for some choices, results, and whether you were satisfied or not.
I have a 09 Road King, 96" with S&S A/C, Rinehart true duals, and TTS master tune that's been tuned just for that set up, meaning I haven't used any other features with the TTS.
Bike has 18000 plus miles, and I'm wanting to pull the trigger during this winter, since we don't ride after the first salt of the roads.

Now, I know some will chime in with smart ***/sarcasm and say google and search button blah, blah, blah...

Just looking for some honest feedback, advice, and do's and don'ts.

That being said, thanks in advance for your time, response, and input and always ride safe. Have a great weekend.

Here's what I did instead of the standard Fuel moto build:
S&S 107 cylinders and pistons - discount harley supplier
FuelMoto level B heads
S&S pushrods - discount harley supplier
Woods 777 cams - discount harley supplier
Woods lifters - eBay
S&S roller rocker - eBay (overkill for the build but great price)
Cometic .040 head gasket
Powervision with TargetTune.

I pieced it together last winter to save some money while still getting new cylinders. Money was used in other areas. The one downside to the S&S kit is the piston rings have to be filed to fit.

I have 5000 miles on it and I've never had to add oil. It pulls strong and the top end is quiet.

I went with a Tman performance 107 with his thumper heads and he ported the throttle body. Couldn't be more happier with it have about 5000 miles on it so far. I recommend giving him a call or Scott at hillside or fuelmoto etc. I went with Tman for a few reasons (1) his reputation for making reliable horsepower (2) he took the time out to speak with me himself several times in person to explain a few different options and I never felt pressured into making a purchase (3) I live about 20 miles from his shop

I would call a reputable builder - Fuel Moto, Hillside, Dragos, etc. I have true duals, Fuel Moto recommend against ported heads if you have true duals. Minimal gains, and max TQ pushed to the right of the curve. I'm happy with my build (tho one of my valve springs just took a ****, costing me a lot of $, not their fault).

Here's my chart - FM jugs, stock heads, V&H true duals, 777 cams.

Keep the compression reasonable, around 190-195 ccp. Keep the cam lift under .600" Get whatever you build tuned by a good dyno tuner and as you see in the above chart, avoid true duals, LOL. Good luck in whatever you decide.

Agree, my build is 777 cams. which are .575 lift, and compression ratio is 10.25:1, not crazy

Happy with my 107 I built for the dyna. Hillside did all the machine work & there stage IV heads, and the most important part is getting a good tuner to do a great tune. had 32,000 on engine after build with no issues.

Going from a TC96, you don't have compression releases. I recommend for hot starts. You can go with the HD auto releases (the harness and releases are in the P&A catalog and a dealer will have the jig to drill the heads. Or you can go with manual releases from HD or other like Fuel Moto. Good luck and let us know what you end up doing.

I had a local builder do my head work including larger valves, purchased CP pistons and had the cylinders bored to 107" specs at a local machine shop, then went with TMan 555c cams and did the install myself. I'm very happy with the the flat even torque this combination has.
