Default Denim paint- positives and/or negatives

I've only spoken to one rider with denim paint. He told me if you scratch it, there is no way to get it out and if you add a painted part it is impossible to match it up. Thoughts? Clean up and care different?

I had a fat boy in denim black and personally didn't like it. As far as cleaning goes, you can't wax it. I just bought some cleaner from the Harley dealer and used it.

I can verify, if you scratch it, you can't touch it up.

I will never get that color again.. But like I said, its a personal choice.

I clean with mild soap, rinse then use a leaf blower to dry.
In between I use Windex no ammonia and a microfiber cloth. Dealer recommended.

I really like the charcoal denim.

ive had both. IMO, you get sick of the denim. Its just dull and boring after awhile. Vivid Black, when clean and waxed just looks so dam nice. Denim doesnt show up dirt as much so if you dont like washing or cleaning your bike thats the way to go

Pro is that it looks good if the rest of the mods compliment it. (personal choice). Cons are what you listed plus the bugs are harder to get off. I liked it. If they would have gotten it on one of my kings if they offered it.

I had black denim on an Iron 883 back in 2010. Like others have said very simple to clean with some windex but can't be waxed so any scratches cannot be buffed out. I was told at the time the reason it's called denim is because over time any spots the are repeatedly rubbed on, like the tank by your legs, will begin to take on a dull shine, kind of like jeans begin to wear in certain areas. I don't know if this true at all because I only had that bike for two years and the small tank was never really touched by my legs. However I loved the look of it but it, was on a 883 that had that chopped look, when I see it on Street Glides however I just don't think it really fits, IMO

It does wear so that you end up with shiny spots. It is a finish thst takes some extra care. Not a picking up drunk bar chicks on. Although you can't wax it products like back to black on the black denim work really well.

I'm ****. Yeah, I hate it. So I get a peek at black denim, and thought, I've got to try it. 95% of the time use a wet sponge to soak the bugs loose then chamois it dry. Bike is so easy to maintain, it's a joke. No clear coat to polish.

I'm pretty sure the fairing is molded in color. Mines still like brand new.

I can't say enough......

I've got a Denim Black 15RGS and I couldn't see myself on a different color RG. Something about it just drawn me to it. With that being said it does scratch easy...... So if your buying a denim bike and your OCD about that kind of thing then I wouldn't recommend it. It irked me a little@ first but then I had to realize that I bought this bike to ride and enjoy it so knicks and scratches are gonna happen. Plus side is the bike is super easy to clean. Soap and water with some HD denim paint protectant sprayed on and wiped with a micro cloth.

I have the charcoal denim and I love it. super easy to clean and I don't have to spend that extra time waxing and polishing the paint. My previous ride was vivid black and while it was gorgeous clean it didn't stay like that very long. Not to mention the swirl marks. All paint is gonna chip. I'm sure it could be touched up but I haven't tried that. It's definitely a personal choice but when I first saw the charcoal denim in person I was sold. Oh and I also just wash with a mild soap and a leaf blower. I'm careful with the towel dry as I don't want to polish any spots
