I'm looking for recommendations for a replacement stereo for a 2002 Electra Glide. What I have is the original HD stereo (am/fm/weather/aux and yes...cassette). I would like all the previous, minus the cassette, and add XM radio. Any recommendations?
I have an 05 FLHTCI and bought a plug and play kit on eBay because I didn't want to lose my thumb controls nor did I want to shell out the $$$ for a Harley radio. There are a bunch of different packages to choose from here's a link to a basic one http://m.ebay.com/itm?itemId=171833439461
I went with a digital media receiver (radio that has a USB port and Bluetooth connectivity) because I don't carry CD'S or cassettes on my bike and I can connect my iPod or my phone to it and stream music that way, plus the USB port doubles as a cell phone charger. Save some $$$ and replace the radio yourself, torx bit T27 to remove the windshield then additional 4 T27 screws to remove outer fairing, unplug headlight set fairing aside, and then 2 Allen head screws holding your factory radio in. If you're in the fairing might as well wire up an amp and swap out the speakers. I bought all of it for around $350 and you can hear my music clear as day cruising at 75 on the highway.
Burn rubber, not your soul. Keep the rubber side down and the shiny side up.

You might not know since you're new and all, but under the tech and mechanical tab is an audio section where all they discuss is audio. There's a subforum for buy/sell/trade as well. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/audio.../?daysprune=14
As noted check the audio sections. I had the same bike and radio. One thing to know is that the speakers are 8 ohm. No new radios are 8 ohm - they are all 4 or 2. You will also need to replace all the speakers. I would budget for a decent amp in the faring as well. If you do it do it all.
The guys on the audio forums helped me through all this the last time. Getting ready to do it all again on my new to me 2010. If you are handy and take your time it is not a hard install.
