Ok, so I live in SW Florida and I am one of those guys that is always sweating anyway. My butt gets wet riding 10 mins here in the summer, so I decided to try a few things to improve my comfort.

Read all the posts about various custom seats, covers, AirHawks, etc and thought well, let me try those ridiculous beads first as a "test". I mean they are $8.00 at Walmart and if they don't work I can return them or toss them, no great loss right?

So I found a beaded cover made for a bucket seat and figured that would be a good starting point for my experiment. When I got home, I inverted the beads so the skinny part road up the passenger backrest and noticed it actually fit almost perfectly. So I quickly tied it on, got my wife to agree to test ride this contraption with me and off we went. (She commented that we'd probably roll off our seats and wind up on the grass, LOL).

All I can tell you is that at 30mph I could feel cool air under my azz and I had not started to sweat. We road about 30 mins and when I got off the bike - No wet butt. The wife said she could feel the difference as well, which I didn't really expect as I thought I blocked most of the air circulation.

We road a few more times to verify the air circulation and also to determine if these would be comfortable on longer rides. I've never had a custom seat, so I am not able to comment on how this would compare, but I can say that the beads made my stock '16 RGU seat MORE comfortable. I could move my butt around and adjust the pressure points every 20-30 mins and that was a nice side benefit.

Two other things I noticed: 1) the beads don't get hot, so when I can't find a shady place to park, I don't have to site on 150 degree black vinyl when I climb on. 2) When it rains (happened to me once) the beads don't hold water, so climbing on doesn't get you wet.

At this point I decided to make it look nicer and went out to Home Depot, where I purchased $5.00 worth of black paracord and some snap connectors (they are in the same isle together, so easy to find). The paracord had instructions on how to braid the line, so I figured it would look a whole lot better than my quick tie job.

I've attached some pics to this, so you can see the final product. I may build another with a black beaded cover, but for now I actually like the look of the wood.

That turned out great! I had messed around with a different seat cover thing I found at Walmart, but it just didn't work very well. I'm for sure getting the wood beads now.

I like the connection system you made, looks really good.

I just realized that there is no allowance for a back rest. It still looks excellent.
