Default SE 585 cams on stock 103

I just talked to the performance quy at my local dealership. Looking to install some new cams to pump up the power. I have a 2012 with Screaming Eagle Super Tuner tuned and available for the re-tune, Vance and Hines Power Dual header, V&H Hi output slip-ons, SE air cleaner.

He suggested either T-Man 555 Torqster cams or the new Screaming Eagle 585 cams. He said the 585 cams should produce mid 95 hp and over 110 tq, closer to 115 tq. I'm thinking those sound pretty good considering he said the torque comes on early like what I need for better 2 up riding.

What do you guys think?

I have never heard of this cam, he said it was new, not sure how new. He said originally they were only selling it in the 110 upgrade kit, but had recently released it to be sold as a drop in cam for the 103. He said they had put it in about 10 bikes and kept the valve springs stock and have had no issues at all. It was originally suggested to change the valve springs when going over a 575 lift, but they have found the 585 is working fine with stock valve springs. He indicated that the cam runs out of power at 6200 so if we kept the rev limiter at 6000 we shouldn't have any issues with valve float. I'm not going to be racing around anyway so I'm going to go with the 585 and post up the results when done. Going in next Wednesday 10/5/2016 and should be done by 10/6/2016.

Can't go wrong with the woods 555 cam in a 103 motor. A local shop just finished a 2011 ultra with the 555 in it last night. Was at 110tq by 3k peaked at 113tq and 95hp. He is running rsd intake, fuel Moto 2-1-2 header pipe and fuel Moto mufflers. The overall looked very impressive

I've been looking at cams to run in my '16 FLTRU 103. I'm thinking I'm going to go with S&S and they have suggested their MR 103 which is a 585 cam.

I have the stage 3 with the 585, 2-1 Supertrapp, heavy breather, on my RGS. I am getting 96hp, 114 TQ. It is perfect for me, great pull from the stop and passing power. Good stuff!

I had a stage 4 103 in my 07 with an S&S 585, it was a friggen stump puller@ from about 2500-redline would of kept going too. Its band is right where you ride normal cruising, instant response at wot all the way to the end. Not sure how it would be on a stock 103 in regards to chamber and valve flow, someone here may know like Hillside or Dragos.

The guy at my FLIBS said the S&S 510 was the largest we could put in without getting into head work. Said that it has better power at highway speeds Vs just low end torq.

Lower gearing works well 2 up,even with just a good stage 1.

510 and the 551 are essentially the same cam, the 551 has more lift and is intended for the 103's. 510 is for the 96's. That said I installed 551's in my 95" 2001 FLTRSEI2 with no problems. I installed 551's in my 2012 ultra and they were awesome. Download a tune from S&S with the cams and installed. No dyno time!
