Been thinking of forward controls on my Ultra. Can this be done, and keep the lower fairings? Is there enough room? I' d like to delete the floorboards.
Or is there an easier way, like a foot peg near the forward floorboard mount ? All comments , ideas, thoughts , questions, pics, appreciated ?
They just kind of feel awkward, or in the way. I think I would be more comfortable with pegs up near the shifter and brake pedal. I don't recall seeing anything like that before. I may have to invent something. I did some searching this morning, all I came up with was full blown kits for 600 on up. I'll continue searching.

Would lowering them help? I use Tall Boys lowering brackets along with Kuryakyn 4588s which move the boards out and forward. It's a very comfortable set up. Even more room than I had on my softail with 2 inch forwards.
Of course you need to go with an extended shifter and brake pedal then. I believe with lowers +1 is max.
That said, I have seen forwards on Street Glides. Someone just had a thread on it in fact. But it didn't look like lowers were an option.
no lowers on my King... but i can tell you forwards are the way to go... would not have it any other way...first thing i did was a stage 1 and forwards...mine are jay brake..

that is a gorgeous bike. I've had forwards on previous Harleys, always loved em.

Lowering would help some, I think. The front of my boards are clearing the lowers by 1/4 of an inch. They look to be set at their lowest position. Is it possible to just lower the rear of the boards ?

Unfortunately not that I know of. The Tall Boys brackets do lower them more in the back than front. But you do need to trim the bottom of the lowers to make room for the lower position. I had no problem doing it to my 11 Ultra and the end result was much more comfortable. I traded the bike in and not one word was mentioned of me cutting the lowers.
They really make a big difference. I rode a buddies 14 CVO and I couldn't wait to get off and back on to my bike.
