Default Oil line fittings

I installed a Jagg oil cooler about one year ago. I used stainless braided oil hose, and fastened to the barb fittings with screw hose clamps. Recently I noticed some leaking around the fittings, as the worm gear on the clamps had loosened.

So, I'm wondering...is there some kind of hose fittings that are screw on that can be adapted to the barb fittings?

FWIW...I'm in the process of installing new hose, with those covered type clamps, and it's not going well. First I was using a utility knife to try to remove the existing hose, and put an ugly gash in my finger. And then...the clamps are a pain to install.

I'd suggest that if you still have the plain old back formed hose, you use that.

not all stainless hose is spec'd for hot petrochemicals- and I have seen "novelty" or "dress up " hose degrade and leak*

aside from ordinary hose clamps ( which I have never had come loose) you could get crimped on clamps like OEM style- you've have to get a shop to put them on for you ( easiest) rather than buying the tool and clamps.

* my old Boss had stainless lines put on by a shop who did 'awesome choppers' for TV.
one day he showed me his bike and that oil was leaking- through the hose.
the inside rubber had degraded and was carried through the motor- requiring a rebuild.

These fuel injection hose clamps work well for me.

Get yourself a supply of stepless clamps and be done with jubilee clips altogether. The more you use clamps, the more failures you'll see with jubilee's. Stepless = no moving parts = reliable, and they do come off easy when required. They're just not reusable.

I have SS braided oil cooler lines also. I used the Russell Pro System Oil Lines .

They push onto the single barb fittings and are then screwed in place to tighten an O-ring around the fitting. I used blue Loc-tite to keep them from loosening. I have not had any oil leaks to date.

That's cool. That's what I'm going to try.

I assume you haven't had any deterioration of the rubber, as post above suggested?

I have not. It is a compression fitting. I purchased replacement rubber compression seals from J&P.

Does the fitting you're using call for a hose clamp to be used?? If it's a push-lok style barb fitting, the barbs on the fitting are sharp enough that, after the hose clamp is installed, will actually cut the hose and begin to leak. Worked in a custom hose shop for years and saw this very often.

They are a smooth barb...more like a flare. Jagg provides stsndard hose clamps.
