Default 2013 vs 2014 Saddlebag/Fender?

Key differences?(other then the locking mechanism) Purchasing stretched bag/fender set. Have a buddy who builds bikes for a living doing my work. So modifications are not a huge issue. However, are they key differences? I plan to utilize the lids off of my stock '14 bags

thanks

Can you be more specific? You have a 14 and want to use 13 bags? Not sure what your trying to do here? I put 14 bags on my 13 so I'm sure I could offer some decent info but I'm not sure what your asking.

Sorry.
2014 Road King.
Going to add stretched bags and a fender.
Will 2013 and earlier years fit? More choices and cheaper for the 13s and below.
Thx

I don't think your '14 lids will fit a '13 style bag.

Those that have swapped, use the entire bag when using '14 and up bags on '13 and previous bikes.

^^^ This ^^^
The '14 bags have a slightly different shape, so fitment is gonna be off if you mix lids and bottoms.

Also the 14 and up bikes have fixed mounting points. There is no adjustment in the mounts so holes would have to be drilled in the old style bags to get them mounted on a 14 and up bike. When I put 14 bags on my 13 I ended up replacing the lower saddlebag support bars and the strut covers to make it all 14 style stuff, which meant I had to buy a new 4 point dock also. I could have made the new bags fit with the old stuff but I would have either had to drill a front hole in my new bags or mod the front mount. The reason I didn't is I had notice the new style bags sat further back towards the rear of the bike on the old mounts.
