Default 1 Year Mileage & MPG Stats

My Road Glide was 1 year old on 19 December 2016.

I rode it 15,430 miles, which averages out to 42.3 miles per day.

15,351 (mileage at last fill-up) divided by 392.9 gallons = 39.07 MPG (average)

The lowest was 31.97 MPG (interstate, must have been rolling)
The highest was 46.22 MPG (mountains)

Fuel cost was $1045.23 Works out to 6.8 cents per mile.

Maintenance costs (1 set of tires & 4 services) = $695 / 15351 = 4.5 cents per mile.

I don't get to ride everyday. In fact the bike sat for at least a week 22 times during that year. The longest it sat was 34 days.

But 5600 miles of that was in the Smokey Mountains! (and there & back).

I guess everybody needs a hobby, interesting trivia though.

My superslab mpg is usually better than the mountain riding, but interesting stats.

Didn't keep track of how many times you rode the Dragon or visited Wheels Through Time?

On this bike 0 & 0. We've stopped a few times at Deal's Gap for a break. Usually after Cherohalla skyway from Tellico plains, then 129 north to Deal's gap. Usually ride 28 out after the break.

My wife and I have both rode it a few times on other bikes. And while it is a nice road, it's a well marketed, high traffic, heavily patrolled tourist site.

There are so many better roads to ride in that area. That area being Helen, GA north to above Hot Springs and Tellico Plains, TN East to Blowing Rock.

So many beautiful, twisty roads with very little traffic.

I average about 45 mpg. No deep stats, just check periodically from tank to tank riding. Love the Helen / Hiawassee GA area for riding. Light traffic, leisurely pace.

Nice- I like records, they'll tell you if something is trending wrong and most of our Dads had a notebook in the glove box.
You have a stronger connection to the machine.

I use MPG to judge how the efi is working..

stock 44 MPG, Xieds 43, and I am fiddling with a fuelpak which has ranged from 38 to 40...my numbers and notes help me describe to V&H at which rpms and loads I am getting indications of rich or lean operation

When my '53 came out of the barn, the saddlebags and winter apron kit were crushed in an old box (which we almost didn;t see).
It took almost a year of treatment to get the saddlebags back to shape and open...and inside was the original owners pocket notes with every fill, oil change and fix from 1954 to 1963 when it was put away.

Mike

Agree some areas there are too commercialized, and lots of other great riding in the area. That 28 is great after a train ride in Bryson City.
