Default Road King and Extended Bags - Build Thread

So I'm going to give the Road King a new look. I'm on the fence about the extended bag look so far...but I'm committed to seeing this through! All the chrome will be blacked out and I'm still working on a color, but I'm leaning toward a Candy Flaked Blue at the bottom of the post.

Here is what were are starting with...

Ended up like this...for now

I may end up with CVO bags before its all over. Right now it looks "heavy" in the rear.

Thoughts....Opinions??

Marked and ready

A few minutes with a cutoff wheel

Wings added

Ready for the bucket

Tacked

This is the color I was thinking about....I just sprayed a Fender Bass that color as a test bed.

Looks good. But since you asked, not a fan of fishtales and extended bags & fender. Maybe you will be changing them too. Extended bags, IMHO, need a big pipe, ending at the bag, or a hair longer.

Right now planning on running the fishtails...The good thing is I can swap the caps out pretty quick if need. Slash cuts would be my next choice if I can find some used. I'd toss them on to see.

I'll try and keep this thread rolling, be patient I only get time on weeks to get out and do things.

Looking forward to see how this turns out
A couple questions, is you metal work going to follow the shape of the extended bags?
I think that would be cool if you could use the same radius.
Also what are you thinking/planning on doing for your tail/brake/blinker lights?
Something recessed?

Thanks!
Yes the arch of the exhaust cutouts will have the same curve once I'm finished.

As far as lights I was thinking a 34 Ford tail light and PlasmaRods between the bags and the fender. I'd just do the PlasmaRods but I like the extra light so I don't get hit.

Here in my old bike that I did in 2001. I like the fact that it has some style and not something everyone else is doing.

Thanks! BTW what year is your bike? I like that dash.

I'll update some pics later this weekend. But I have a few parts on the way:
CVO round black mirrors
Black engine guard
Black Banana Boards
Progressive shocks forks/rear.
All chrome will blacked out.
55 Chevy tail light

I have both the two up and solo seats from CnC
I just order some eBay fairing lowers to see what they look like.

Next on the parts list are:
Plasma Rods. Turn and Brake
Maybe a sound system...Its going to be used.
