Default Lowering rear suspension

Has anyone lowered their rear suspension with lowering blocks on a Street Glide Special 2017 but not changing the shocks? I want to lower it about 2" if possible.

The Streetglide is already 1" lower than a standard touring bike platform to begin with. If you lower it another 2" you'll end up with a bike that rides extremely harsh no matter how much air you have in the shocks or how you have the preload set . Especially riding 2 up

Go with a low profile seat or have your seat cut down.

Check out mean city cycles for the seat and then talk to Howard at motorcycle metal for some Ohlins shocks. The combo will get you right where you want to be without compromising ride quality

go with a JNR air ride, I know people that have spent hundreds on seats and were still not happy..

on the 16 FLHXS I bought in December I went with the JNR base kit for $399 and it works great.. slammed for parking lot maneuvering and back to stock ride height on the road with no seat work necessary..

FYI as far as I know NONE of the lowering blocks made will work with the hand adjustable shocks without clearance issues, I believe if you search on here they all end up rubbing the left side saddle bag

Most of them have stops that keep the fender about 1/2" off the tire. Now as far as the shocks bottoming themselves out, well that depends on how much you inflate them. Ideally you want to inflate up to about 3" for a nice comfortable ride.

older post BUT....Bitchin Baggers takes your own shocks and rebuilds them to lower your bike. Still can use preload settings etc. On the special none of the lowering brackets work well. They either cause performance issues or rub the bags. 175.00 to rebuild the shocks is heck of a better deal than air ride.

I have SGS shocks and 1" lower blocks on my king and I feel the ride is 100% better than the stock air shocks. I don't run aggressively so don't have to worry about scraping. I never bottom out (220 lbs, gf 120) but I also have a CVO seat which is another inch lower. I also added the HD premium low front cartridge set and it is LOWWWWWW
