2006 SE Ultra engine swap

Have a buddy who blew the 103 in his bike. We are either looking for a replacement 103 for an '06 or some insight on the ability to bolt a 96-103 for '07+. Any advice would be graetly appreciated..

You need and 06 or earlier motor bagger or Dyna. 06 dynas won't work.

Add: early B motors won't fit either.

Harleys Longblock program may be what you are looking for, they have a 03-06 Touring 103 engine.
Part# 16200095 for a black engine, & Part# 16200096 for A silver engine.

So, an 88 will bolt right in? Like 2000-2006 touring?

Yep.. If 2001 or earlier, motor will have a cam sensor. Simply remove and block of the hole. The hardest issue will be tuning the motor to your newer ECU.. The 99s Had cam gear issues and 99 to early 2000s had cam bearing issues. Needs a new rear cam bearing. 2002-2003 (?) had plastic breather valves which are good to replace. If any 99-2006 motor has get any miles, check chain tensioners.

Why not rebuild rather than replace??
