Default 2007 Ultra 80,000 miles

At the end of last year I started hearing knocking coming from the front of my bike. Rough starts and under load it would slip and sound like a grinding noise. To me from research, I thought I had the compensator failure. Opened up my primary today and it appears that the last owner put in the replacement that bypasses the need for a compensator. Now I am worried what could really be the cause of the issue. Any thoughts or tests I can do to figure this out?

That looks like an original 07 compensator. The latest replacement for that requires a rotor change at the same time. You'll have to remove the inner primary to do that. I'd replace the shifter shaft seal while you're there.

That makes me feel better. I have all the parts to do the full change over. Thanks for the info I thought I was going down the wrong road after I popped open the primary.

It could be a lot of things keep going pull the clutch and main sprocket. Was there any metal shavings on the drain plug? A noise problem is one thing but slipping with no metal shavings tells me it might be in the clutch basket. So keep going pulling the clutch basket apart isn't bad there is a series of plates steel plates then friction plates keep them in order and look for damege

Good advice on the seal replacement too.

I have all of the seals and bearings to that were suggested in a few of the posts. I have the inner primary seal and bolts. Checked the drain plug and there was metal shavings. Very fine almost like powder mixed with oil. It was hard to tell if it was just dirty or metal.

Ok. Pulled the clutch the plates look good with no visible defects on any plates. The inner most plate appears to be different with a metal concave ring. When I pulled it out it fell and now not sure which way it goes in.

Bad news. Found the broken metal parts. Can I order just the that part?
