radio doesn't turn off
2004 Electra Glide. Turn off ignition & radio stays on. If I unplug the power from the back of the radio it will turn off & stay off when plugged back in until the key switch is turned back on then stays on again

My guess is that U need to have your radio taken out and repaired.
You may get luck and find a dealer that has an extra radio on hand but the odds aren't on your side for this happening. If you was to do the R&R it may be a faster turnaround time than having the dealership do the entire job and it would definitely be cheaper. You may also want to check to see if you have a radio repair shop near you. My brother had a radio in his '96 Impala that kept running his battery down and your problem sounds a lot like the one that he had with his OEM radio. |
I really do not read in your text if you are saying radio will not turn off with radio switch. Obviously, someone has wired it straight to the battery and not thru the key on switch

Some questions I have are; Are you the original owner? Is it the original radio? Has it been working correctly and just started this? Will it turn off with the power switch? Either with the key off or on? Has any work been done in the faring near the radio? When the radio is working does everything work as it should? Does the bike have any other electrical quirks? If you feel like you need to pull it and have it looked at I would suggest contacting Iron Cross. They are pretty much the Harley radio specialist. Heck, I'd call them before I'd pull it out and see what they say. |
I'm guessing that the OP doesn't know that there's an On/Off switch on the radidio!

However, if the radio will turn off with its power button then the problem is likely in wiring not the radio itself. |
