Default Removing Dash panel adhered with double sided tape

Does anybody have any ideas on removing a Kuryakyn product adhered with the fingernail rubbed and activated double sided tape?

I had an original Harley chrome lower fairing switch cover accent on my bike that was damaged along with the black fairing cover itself while removing the ignition switch. I replaced the cover and purchased the Kuryakyn chrome piece instead of the original Harley...Big mistake. The Kury cover is total junk and now I need to remove it without damaging the cover its mounted on?

I've pried at it by hand, heated it with a heat gun as much as I dare with all the plastic around it and its not budging? I don't think I can get fishing line up in there because of all the curves etc. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Well, that fairing cap is only $34.00 if it turns out that you can't get that chrome doodad off of there!

I know because I just bought this new one. I'm hoping to get it off without having to pry with any type of tool. I have interior auto panel removal tools all made of plastic but I know it will end up damaging the part if I have to pry against each piece.

Yeah, you can't get the thing too hot or you'll warp it. Can you take a Dremel tool and carefully cut the cheapie cover into smaller pieces, then maybe you can pry the smaller pieces? If you catch my drift...

Default Double Sided Tape

I would try brake kleen or electrical contact cleaner on it. Careful about your paint though.

If you can get some fishing line behind the tape and pull it back and forth it should cut right through. If done this with double sided tape and works pretty good. Also, dental floss will work but it keeps breaking so you'll go through a few strands.

I always had good luck with WD40. YMMV.

Thanks Guys, I'm going to give a few of your suggestions a try. With patience I should be able to manage something?

Dental floss ... fishing line and a little heat to make it soft, followed by some goo gone or WD-40

I have removed stuff from cars with WD40 and dental floss.
Used a broken pencil or key rings on dental floss ends to make pulling easier.
