All of that said OP, I'd clean it up, service it and ride it. That patina is part of the bike and more importantly, part of the story.

Nice find...you didn't get hurt on the price...but I don't it is the low mileage museum piece you were thinking...my 84 is on it's third speedo.

ORratech, thanks for the info . More information I have to look into. As far as the speedo, I did find one on E-Bay showing the missing items you said were on the original. The paint is still in question as I don't see any indication of a re-paint. If it is a redo it was a complete tear down to hide the "original" color.

Great find a great price! I too would be torn to go between an original with all it's patina or go full resto. If it were mine, I'd be leaning towards new paint, cleaning up the chrome, and bring it back to it's original glory. Shiny Chrome & paint is a reminder of which side stays up!
