New 14" LA CHOPPERS FL ape install
Just finished up this install last week. I didnt find a whole lot on the forum about these bars, so I figured I would post a little about them.
I changed out from Wild Ones 578's. I considered Wild Ones 576's, but wanted a Gloss Black bar. La Choppers Twin Peaks seem to be super popular, and I have installed those on a buddies bike, but wanted a regular style bar for my bike..
Quality is top notch, good powdercoat. Pulling wires was a little more of a challenge with these than the Wild Ones. Very doable, just a little tougher pull. Not sure if the LA bars are a little smaller ID or maybe the taller bars make it tougher. Used NAMZ 15" extensions and I was able to pull all the wires and then install the extensions after I pulled wires.
+8" Barnett clutch cable and a +8" Barnett upper ABS line for the install as well. Also changed to poly bushings. Installed stock street glide mirrors back on the bike
Also, a note about bleeding ABS lines.. With the ignition OFF I gravity bled the upper line to the ABS module. Then did the pump and bleed method to the module. Kinda messy so I drenched the bike around the module with soapy water after this step. Then bled the line from the ABS module to the calipers in usual pump and bleed method. Was a little weary about it but ended up with the same feel at the lever that I had before changing line. No ABS light. All worked just fine without a trip to the dealer to bleed ABS.
