Instead of input from others relative to heir riding style, why not put a few miles ( hundreds ) on the scooter and see what short comings you experience and go from there. Yes there are some problems with cam chain tensioners, but replacing the shoes is a significantly cheaper than a whole new hydraulic assembly.

On my new '17 Road King. I have a list that includes slip ons and rider back rest, and chrome.

But, the first to go on yesterday:
- Bright *** Light Tail Light
- Custom dynamics rear turn signal leds
- Red rear turn signal lens
- Rear run, turn, brake controller...makes the rear turn signals light in run mode, and ilumimuste with brakes.

Stock eglide pipes, to shut up the god-awful noise of the Vance and Hines straight pipes it had.

That is a valid point, and I have a short list of things I would like to rectify based on my time with this bike. My main goal in starting this thread was to be able to compile a list of commonly mentioned upgrades that other riders felt were crucial to bettering the handling, comfort, and safety of their rides. Perhaps, even to allow me to take a preemptive strike against some issues that others have experienced over the course of ownership. There are many aesthetic changes that people make, and I can appreciate those in their own right. I just wanted to get a reading on how many others felt that there was a certain degree of necessity to adding things like a bagger brace and beefier components. The more I see the same types of items mentioned, the more inclined I would be to prioritize their importance. It's just me leaning on the real world experience of those who have the miles under their belt on this model line.

Windshield of proper height and tires.
You will know if you have suspension issues that warrant purchases ie bagger brace. Some do not have a problem and looking at the swing arm bushings and motor mounts before spending cash on a brace makes sense to me.
Full stage 2 performance upgrade and possibly gearing to add some torque if you ride 2 up a lot.

Agreed. This was one of the first noticeable items on my short list.

I bought the factory service manual. Immediately.

Then I removed the heel shifter.

This was THE first item on my short list. I'm sure the heel shifter has it's merits, but it is just awkward and in the way for me. Maybe, someday, I'll be willing to give it a fair shake. But, for now, it just feels unnatural.
