Bike wouldn't start this morning
Bike wouldn't start this morning.
I cranked and cranked - it would splutter then die. Smelled plenty of petrol - maybe I just flooded it? Is it possible to "flood" an EFI engine? Or am I up for expensive repairs?
This is the first time she's completely let me down. Granted it was a cold morning which makes starting harder.
Only had trouble starting once before - on that occasion it spluttered and died a couple of times but after I held down the starter button and really cranked her she fired up - not this time.

What would cause the plugs to foul on an EFI bike? With the precise mixture control I didn't think that would be possible... On a carburetted bike I'd understand that happening...

That's going to be one of many things. Easiest thing to do is verify spark on the plugs. Buy a plug spark tester or the old fashioned way of placing the plug next to the hole.
If you have fire then time to test the fuel. If you have a repair manual there are several repair/diagnostic pages on this issue.
Good luck buddy
