Default Battery Melt Down
Anyone ever see this before. The negative terminal on a friends Road King just melted. Funny thing is it still works. He ordered a Deka today.

Loose cable will do that, I use star or serrated washers on all my cable connections just because of that.

Make sure there isn't a dead short that caused it to melt. That will do it also.

loose connection- check BOTH ends.
check the cables are not rotted inside the insulation too

Probably what they said.
But a connection that bad should have given other symptoms. Hard start, flickering lights, dim lights maybe even rough running.
have you checked for codes? Measured voltage at the battery with the bike running?

The owner also thinks it was a loose connection. He has had problems in the past with the negative side not staying tight. Luckily he had enough tools with him to get it tight enough to get him home.

I just replaced my battery a few weeks ago.
EVERY threaded connection got blue locktite!

make sure all your grounds are good to start , then every connection on the bike. make sure you are not over charging too !
