My dealer let me demo one for a few days before I bought one. Check with your dealer to see what seats they have available for you to demo.

Why not just put a detachable kit on your tour pack and buy some SG rear shocks.

From my understanding that's the big difference between the touring models.

This is way when the wife wants to ride you're ready in 10 mins. When she doesn't want to ride you're ready in 10 mins.

I have tossed around around the idea of trading my heritage for a street glide but the more I look the better an ultra sounds as you can strip it and have a SG.

she's not going to like the ride of the 12 inch shocks either.

I did the Electra Glide Classic route and stripped off to a styled Street Glide. Detachable trunk mount makes best of both worlds with stock seat in place. Likely adding solo seat for around town style. 12" Progressive 412 shocks worlds ahead of 13" air units.

With my SG the ole lady hated the stock seat, but I don't mind it for solo riding. So last Christmas I picked up a quick detach king pak and a hammock seat. She won't ride without either of those on the bike now lol.

Adding JNR rear air ride helped a bunch too.

I went the opposite direction. I started out with an 08 EG with no back rest. Then came the detachable large backrest for her. Then the detachable king tour pak. I can always take it off when riding solo.........but so far I haven't.

The Ultra can be dressed down as a SG but i dont like the wheels or fenders on the Ultra when it is dressed down. IMO it was better to start with the street glide and add what i wanted or liked about the ultra. The stock 12 in shocks wasnt horrible for my wife but could be approved so we added JNR Designed air ride and ez up center stand, passenger floor boards, sissy bar and later the chopped tour pack with the wrap around backrest. I went with the detached but i have not took it off. I find myself needing it too much.

You can go from Cozy Rider to stripped down with a little extra chrome and passing lamps in 10 minutes
