Default Stereo Sounds Much Better w/Engine Off?

2015 Street Glide. Overall pretty happy with the sound from the stereo but wondering why the quality and richness of the stereo sound improves drastically when the bike is not running. My brother's '15 Road Glide does the same thing. Seems very strange to me.

....... yeah, that exhaust note seems to get in the way of sound reproduction every time

I believe that is why some riders prefer Road Kings! No music, except for the natural sounds emanating from those surround sound exhaust pipes.

Its a symphony within itself IMHO.

There was another thread on this a while back and it was identified that it indeed sounds different when the bike is running. If I remember correctly there wasn't a resolution on how to fix it.

You can thank the mothership for that. In an effort to cut out aftermarket audio from being installed on your bike, they made a complete mess of things. If one could find a way to trick it so the HU thinks the bike is off when it's actually running, he'd have his pockets full of cash.

I have tried several times to replicate this. My testing involves turning up a song while the motor is running, then switching to ACC. I have yet to hear any sound difference, personally. Maybe it's the Boom!II?

I'd be curious if the sound changed from running to not if you're wearing headphones.

I believe one member who posted in that thread had looked at the firmware and found there definitely was a difference in the sound output when the bike was off as opposed to when the engine was running. I certainly can tell a difference, as can many others.
