Default Tire pressure Gauge variances - what gauge is best

Just put a new rear tire on due to horrible cupping, and some state tire pressure could be the culprit. Avon Reccomends 44 PSI for the Cobra I installed.

I have 3 different gauges, and all 3 show a different reading. - no idea which one (if any) are correct. They are all around 2-3 PSI different. I took the middle reading to set my pressure.

So. . . . Will +/-3 PSI make a notable difference? If so, What is the most accurate gauge that will get in the tight space for the rear valve.

I have the same question. Prices for new gauges are all over the place. Does price or brand make it more trustworthy? What does the dealer use?

I had the same problem until I bought a tire valve extension hose part # 42300009.
That coupled with one of HD gauges works great. The extensions screws on that hard to get to valve. Great for adding air also.

I use this pressure gauge based on recommendations from forum members in a previous thread on the subject.

That was a good read.
I was quite disappointed to find out it's 12 years old. Has anyone checked to see if any of the reccomended guages are still available?
FWIW Consumer Reports has done a more recent comparison with their reccomendations available on Amazon.

Auto Meter, rubber armored with braided stainless hose and will hold the reading until the release button is pushed. NASCAR accurate.

Gauges vary, I don't trust the pencil or stick type of gauge, get a dial type of gauge.
You may want one with a flexible hose, it is easier to get to the valve steam & read.
If you have an air compressor, get an air compressor chuck with a dial gauge, amazon
sale good ones. That being said, use the same air gauge every time you check the air
in your tires, it will be more consistent. I have a hand held, and a compressor type from
the same manufacture for consistency. The important think is to check the air in your
tires at least once a month, and befor you go on a trip for sure.

For one thing, get a gauge with a 90° chuck on the end for placing on the tire valve. Works especially great for the rear tire on baggers.
