Default Road King Questions

Hi All,
It was a beautiful weekend here in the Hudson Valley and I got in several hours riding my new (to me) '05 Road King.
A couple things occurred to me to come here for advice and possibly answers:
1. I would be much more comfortable riding if I could get a seat that gets me lower and a little further back on the bike. I'm 6' and about 235 and the seat feels like it might be ideal for someone closer to around 5'8". Any suggestions?
2. When I decelerate through down-shifting, I get some popping noises from the exhaust. Not loud backfiring but these pops. Is this normal?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

She's a beauty, I am currently looking for my first RK. Did you find through a dealer or private?

The seat does not look stock to me. A stock seat will probably raise you up. Yes, development popping is normal, depending on what exhaust you are running.

Mustang makes seat called the LowDown that puts you lower. Not sure about the rest. Call them they'll tell you.

As for the popping could be an exhaust air leak or running too lean on closed throttle. Have a tuner? If so richen it up just a little on closed throttle.

I am about your same size and my Corbin Dualtourer seat did just what you are looking for.

My'99 carbed RK will sometime pop on decel, I do not consider it an issue. I kind of like it.

I've got an 04 RKC and went with a HD TallBoy seat. Check your dealer for their Demo seat program. I went that route but since they didn't have a demo for our year range I had to test it on a 17 Ultra. Still gives you a good idea of the seat as long as you can exclude all the other differences in the bikes.

Raised me up about 2" overall, gave a much better seat for my wife as well. When she's happy I'm happy...

I too have an 05 RK. I went with a Saddlemen Explorer seat. I may not weigh as much as you but I am 6ft tall. I also changed my bars because I hated the stock beach bars. Here's a pic of the seat. I got more into my bike now.

Honest question, why lower? Do you have short legs, or is it your sitting relationship with the bars?

On the 2009 frames and up you can even swop the rear triangle for a seat that is much lower and further back. Have a look at Fat Baggers Drop Seat Kits.

Not cheap but does exactly what you ask.

I like lower because it drops me down into the bike. Im 6ft1 and id never want to sit higher. It just feels strange having all my weight that high up.
