2008 Streetglide want idle without applying acceleration. When at halt or coming to a stop, I have to tease the idle around 1800-2000 rams to keep bike running. When I start bike, it idles ford about 5 seconds and the rpm drop below 1000, surge down and cuts off.
I will check plugs and air filter. Any ideas. Thanks

 

Need some added details, to narrow things down a bit, but nice 1st post (welcome).

1. Did this just start occurring for no reason?
2. Any recent mods to know about (electrical and/or performance)?
3. How's your fuel (new/old)?
4. Is it just at idle, or does bike run like crap other times too?

 

Iceman...thanks for the quick response. Overall bike runs great. Added fuel managent tuner, stage 1 and 4-1/2 cobra slipons. Roughly 2-3 weeks ago bike was engaging the limp mode every 75-100 miles or so. I pulled the air filter cover and noticed that the wires were frayed at the TPS and arching. I repaired with no more limp mode and was was riding pretty good with the exception of the last few days. Bike seems to cutout for split second and power surges back instantly with slight popping or backfire. When in traffic, I have to maintain rims around 1800 or bike will quickly loose rpms and give the impression that the bike is shutting down...give it gas and it snaps back. Made it home and let it idle in driveway for a few minutes. It idled between 900 and 1000 ramps. I cut it off and restarted. It started for about 5 seconds, lost rpms, popped and cutoff.

My first thought was faulty IAC, idle air control. Next was TPS, especially since you had issues there before. And obviously any associated wiring/plug connections.
But check codes to hopefully narrow your search.

 

LP and Road Warrior... I checked my codes and received P0151. Rear O2 sensor low.
