Default 90 degree Tire Valve extension

Has anyone successfully used one of these for ease of checking and maintaining tire pressure on your rear tire? Thoughts?

If you're thinking about installing it permanently, I'd suggest you don't.

I installed one and it actually made it worse. Even though it's metal, the grommet is rubber, so when you try to push the air pressure gauge or the filler hose on, it's rocks back away from it. So what used to be a one handed operation is now a two handed one. Never again.

If that screws directly onto an existing, rubber valve stem, I would be very leery about using it. The additional inertia while riding may cause the rubber stem to flex unnaturally, leading to fracture and failure. I had tire pressure monitoring stems which caused that to happen. Just a heads up.

You could use the one's that Fobo sells even if you do not want to use the FoBo pressure unit.

Been running these for a few months with the pressure monitors. Much easier to fill now. My indie installed when I put new rubber on prior to Sturgis, he did say the washers didn't work too well and he used different ones instead.

This has worked for me and a buddy. He has a '12 King with those knuckle wheels and I a Softail Deluxe.

If your going to do it, do it right.

You install these valve stems at the time of tire replacement.
Complete valve stem replacements, not extensions.

I just installed the 90 degree valve stems with a new back tire. They work great and the front is next. Easy to check and put air in now.

I was planning to install a 90 the last rear tire change. The installer, a member here, installed a short rubber valve stem instead that works great. No doubts about it lasting, leaking, breaking, getting lose and it provides easy access.
