Default S & S Teardrop on my FLHRCi

Hi Guys,

I hope somebody can steer me towards the correct Teardrop kit for my 2000 Road King Classic with the early Marelli EFI.

I see kits listed with one stockist that say it's fine and others that say it isn't.

I'm inclined towards 106-4669 from the S&S site but most other places are telling me 17-0450. Generally I'd go with the manufacturers information of course but in this case it seems vague: 'Fits every big twin from 95-15'

Anybody here actually stuck a Teardrop on a 2000 FLHRCi?

Thanks all,

Andy

the 17-0450 will be for the Fuel Injected. I have an 03 and that kit looks like it has everything in it. I don't have one but the hoses and other little things seem to match some of the stuff on my throttle body.

Thanks Randy. I guess these early injected engines are a bit of a grey area when it comes to the 'will it fit' question.

I'll go with the 17-0450.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Need to make sure the wife orders me the correct Christmas present.

If it is as pictured, neither of those will fit your MM throttle body,it is an oval shaped double throttle plate, those kits will only work on carb'ed or Delphi bikes. Here's a pic for comparison.

Thanks for that tfi. I'd better head up to the workshop and pull the filter cover but I was expecting the TB to be different to the Delphi. Just had no idea how much.

From the looks of your photo I'll be fabricating a backplate if I want an S&S teardrop cover.

Andy, the principal S&S chap here in the UK is Matt of Matts Machine Shop. If in doubt he should be able to confirm and supply the correct kit/parts.

I like that air filter so much I bought the carb and whole engine - from Matt, who supplied and installed it, several years ago!

I have one sitting at the shop somewhere that I took off of my old road king but it is carburated so I don't know if there is a difference.

Sadly they are very different but if S&S don't make a kit I'd be happy to buy your old one to modify.

Sorry, just remembered that I put it on my last Road Glide which I traded in. Had that thing for years laying around. Bought the last bike used and hated the AC that was on it. My bad...
