Default CVO Road King Windshield - p/n required

I started ordering all the parts today to put on the Freedom Shields CVO windshield (haven't ordered that yet).

HD has discontinued p/n 11564 grommet, 1 ea.

Everything else is available, brackets, etc.

What can I substitute for that part number? Obviously some have put on the Freedom Shields CVO windshield on their Road Kings. I'm guessing you didn't order the HD windshield first and take-off those parts.

It can't be that much of issue. I contacted Freedom Shields but they don't know.

It would help a lot to tell us what model year your bike is. You can also research such things yourself using an on-line parts website. It's possible that part has been replaced by a different part number, so check different model years from yours.

It was used on the 2013 & 2014 CVO RK windshields. It looks like it was also used in a VRSCA windshield kit.

I checked for an updated part number but New Castle doesn't list any update nor do they show this grommet in stock. The parts finder shows 11564 as $4.76 part.

yep, Surdyke told me yesterday it was discontinued.

I've asked Freedom Shields for the hole diameter, I think it's going to be a relatively easy fix.

Any luck with finding a workaround for the grommets?

not yet, I ordered the brackets and windshield yesterday, probably won't see with until Tuesday at the earliest. Freedom Shields told me they drill a 3/4" hole in the windshield. I might be wrong, but I don't think finding a grommet will be all that difficult. HD has also discontinued the particular bolts and acorn nuts as in the parts diagram. Again, that won't be much of an issue.

For those that are curious, here are two side-by-side pics of the windshields from the Freedom Shields website. I but the red lines on the image yesterday when I was comparing them to get some idea of where the windshield is in relationship to the forks and handlebars.

I finally got around to installing everything on my 18 RKS. I opted to order parts separately like you, and had the same difficulty in finding grommets. My dealer actually pulled the name of a dealer in another state that had an unknown quantity in stock, but I didn't feel it was worth it to attempt to buy them. I ordered a pack of 25 Buna-N grommets from McMaster-Carr, PN 9307K58 and used a step-bit to open the center from 5/16" to 1/2". The outer diameter and material thickness all matched perfectly. I also sent the chrome brackets to D-Tech Coatings, and for $45 had them PC'd black in about a week. All told, I have just shy of $500 in all the parts including the 20" Dark Tint Freedom Shield. I've got plenty of spare grommets if anyone needs them.

that's cool, I'm pretty happy with what I ended up with, but I love the look of that CVO shield
