2017 RK stock seat vs 2013 RKC stock seat
Hey all,
I have a 2013 RKC stock seat and I can manage it fine but the passenger seat is more narrow and dips down more than my passenger would like. There is a local posting for a 2013 Road King studded seat for $150. I believe it is the stock seat as it would come with the seat strap. I believe the 2017 will fit my bike no problems
Looking at the pictures, it appears the passenger seat is wider and does no dip down like my 2013. Also, it looks like the front of the seat is thinner and less wide. Below are pictures of both them.
If anybody has experience with both seats, does the 2017 allow for better passenger comfort? Also, does it change the driver position, i.e. forward, back, high or low? I would like to sit just a bit lower as I am 5'9" and typically wear regular shoes, not boots.
I have been researching the vast amount of different seats out there but haven't had a chance to try demo seats since it snowed again today in IL.
Any information is most appreciated.

The front part of the seats are secured via “tab-in-slot” the 2017s use seats with a slot that mate with tab on the frame. Earlier versions used seats with tab that mate with slot in the frame. So you have to have the right type for your frame. Sorry I don’t know what year moco made this change, but something to be aware of.

I checked and 3 of the seats for purchase on the shop HD site for a 2017 road king all fit a 2013 rkc so I think I am good there. I also checked here on the forums and it was mentioned that it should fit...but none the less this is good information. I would make sure it fits before purchase.

I actually had a 16 roadking but now have a 17 streetglide. All the seats interchange from the 2010 to the 2017. I have also have run a sundowner. There is a difference both front and rear. The 16 and newer RK seats set you down more. The passeger seat on the 16 is ok. Yours on the classic looks more like a streetglide seat with some extra stitching. If the back tapers down like that you will not have a happy passenger.
In the end they all interchange but i was never satified with harleys seats for touring distances

I believe the HD dealers still have that seat demo to try before you by. I think they have something similar to the RK standard seat for demos. I'm not sure of the 17 seats, but may be just a smidge wider on the passenger side.
You could always get that '13 RK studded seat and have it redone by MCC.

Ex-Leftcoaster, yeah I know about the demo seat program, haven't had a chance to use the program as we are still in winter season here. I have thought about MCC, just not there yet.
Todd-67 thank you for that information. I have rode my stock seat for 867 miles in two days and the only thing that was raw was the back of my upper thighs which leads me to think the width for the seat in the front may have been the issue. Normal short rides for 4 hours, 200+ miles I don't have any issues with. I don't like how the passenger seat dips like that. Maybe the RK seat could be a bridge for the passenger before I invest into a better seat

I took the LePera seat off my '13 RKC and tried it on a '17 Road Glide, it fit perfectly.
