Default Passenger Floorboard Removal Help

I am attempting to remove both passenger floor boards which are attached to the frame with 2 hex screws. I have removed the bottom screws on each side, but the top screws will not break loose. Is there a trick to getting these out? I am using T handle hex wrenches. Seems to me that when they assemble the bike at the factory the installer got carried away with the Locktite.

No, they are torqued. You'll need something more beefy than a T handle hex.

Try sliding the correct size box end wrench over the hex wrench. I might give you a little more leverage.

Thanks for the responses. I know they are torqued, but I am afraid I am going to snap the screw/bolt off. I will give it one more try tomorrow, but it I don't have any luck I will ride it the dealer Monday and ask them to break it free. If they break it, they can fix it since the screws/bolts were installed at the factory. It would not be the first time the factory put too much Locktite on a fastener.

And if someone else added red Locktite, you might need to heat them. You can’t put “too much” locktite on. But, someone other than the factory can put the wrong kind on. My money is that you can’t get leverage with what you are trying to do. Get the proper sized hex socket, an extension, and a good quality socket wrench. If you have the proper sized hex socket, fully inserted, and neither it nor the bolt head are stripped, it will break loose...and the bolt won’t break.

Only thing I can add, is sometimes tapping down on that T-handle can assist in breaking the grip. I'm pretty sure TriGeezer nailed it with either torquing or heat. Soooo. You're removing the floorboards for???? I've never met anyone who would rather have pegs over floorboards.....

Sometimes I remove my floorboards when I have the bike set up for solo. Looks goofy having passenger floorboards when it's set up with a solo seat. Removing them also helps when pushing the bike backwards.

I replaced my passenger floorboards with pegs, I like the look better and the wife can position her foot better than in an upright position. Or maybe that should be the other way around!!

Ride Safe!!
