fairing brackets broke after 11 years and 80k
Expecting this for so long from what ive read. Then both broke. Do you think still running original engine mounts,103 with big cams, or amp w/20 lbs speakers had anything to do with it?..naaah
Had the time..so figured from what ive seen its an easy fix. Had some stuff around the house to improvise for the L piece but looked to flimsey so went to the hardware store and got the smallest L bracket(galvanized) from frameing/roofing section. Seemed much stronger then the odds and ends I was thinking about useing ,glad I did(58 cents each).
Was going to get all fancy with the bolts but took the simple way and just used red lock tite. Used a drill press and placed holes on the same spot on both brackets, lockly I got it to work on both sides, didnt take into account right and left differences...ect. what do you think?

I repaired my right bracket (as seated on bike) with a kit from V-Twin Manufacturing. It required me to drill three holes in the existing bracket and basically "scab" it with a replacement bracket and install three bolts. The left bracket I replaced with an improved OEM H-D kit. Did both more than 25K miles ago and no issues whatsoever.
