Default Fuel Tank Lifting Kits

Wondering if the gas tank lifting kits are worth it there suppose to help in cooling the motor and improve air flow. Has anyone tried them on there Bikes yet heard they can get in the way of our turning radius. Not sure if there worth the upgrade???

Purely a cosmetic thing. I like the look but can't do it on my bagger, bars hit the tank.

I did a tank lift on my 13 Road Glide, it wasn't a kit I went to the hardware store and bought a 2" u-bolt used the flat metal piece and some ss bolts and self locking nuts painted everything black. Put new bolts and self lockers on tank, nuts to the outside, put original bolts back where they were and bank 2" lift for about $10.00. Does it run cooler, don't know, my fairy is fixed of course so no problem turning, it looks cool and I can clean the top of the cylinder. Have a friend that did it to his bat wing he never said anything about trouble turning.

Put one on my 14' SGS. I like the look and cylinder tops are easier to clean. I ended up elongating the rear tank holes (if I remember correctly) no clearance issue after doing that 10 minute detail.

Default Tank lift

Like said earlier, don't need a kit, just two small straps, this is what 1 1/2" looks like. Mostly cosmetic and easier to clean top of engine.

rlh, that is a sharp looking bike. I hadn't thought about doing tank lift but it does look nice and for $10 hardware prob cheapest mod I've done by far.

Assume it's just the front of tank that's lifted 1.5-2"?

Thanks ratpick, I did two inch, only lift on front is correct. Try 1.5 and 2 to judge for yourself how it looks and any possible clearance problems with steering etc.

I put one on my 09 ultra classic from DK Customs. It looks great but it throws off your gas gauge. I watch my miles on the odometer so it's not a huge problem for me but you won't be able to count on the fuel gauge or the gas light anymore.
i never had a problem with the bars hitting the tank either.

Can't edit for some reason. It's not the bars, it's the cables that hit the tank. Have one installed on my wife's 06 Sporty with 4.5 tank, no problem.

DK has a deluxe option for an additional amount that allows the rear of the tank to be lifted as well which will level the tank and should negate the issue with the fuel gauge.
