Ok, so I live in WA state. I'm a fair weather rider a bit and not ashamed of it.
I had a softail for years, traded it last year for a 17' Low Rider S.
Fell in love with a fairing and radio when they gave me a loaner bike (street glide special)
Wife thinks I should trade my LRS...
Think the fairing will keep me that warm?
What should I be looking for?

If it were me, I'd look for a used yes I said used garage queen that was tricked out. Sell your's out right yourself.
For one you will have to replace the boring stereo they come with.
Then come's the performance issues and cosmetic stuff.
If you can afford it look for a used CVO SG. The stereo's still suck though even in those.
Good luck.

I'm gonna jump in with the group and suggest you look at a full touring bike if the wife rides more than 50% of the time with you. Hell, if she rides more than 30% of the time. Suspension on these bikes, as has been said, are bad. Bikes look cool as hell, but look and ride are opposites in these bikes. I picked up a seat off an Ultra, so it was not as expensive as going aftermarket, I now have 4 windshields depending on the type of riding I do, I got a chopped trunk for longer rides with my wife.....The list is long and I have a long ways to go, so if I had known then what I know now, I would have picked up an RGU instead of the RGS.

To OP: Regarding the ride of an SG: I didn't mind the ride with the air shocks until I hit a big bump and flew off the seat. Put on a Hammock seat for the Mrs. and she said it was ok, not much of a confidence booster. Put on 12" Premium shocks and she said it was better, but still didn't seem comfy. Then put on 13" Premiums and she likes the ride much better. My point? Plan on ditching the stock suspension or get a bike with both the front and rear already upgraded. Your very smart wife will thank you.

I bought an flhtk. I thought about a flhx for a second and i threw up in my mouth a little bit. If you want to be just like everybody else buy an flhx then have fun making it into an ultra to meet your needs. I bought used and got a great deal on a twin cam bike. The m8 wont touch this bitch.
