Everything is a F'n Fight.....
I'm trying to adjust my clutch following the process in the manual. After doing it, it doesn't feel right. It's like the clutch lever isn't pulling anything (if that makes sense). As I look at the clutch hub when i pull on the lever, nothing moves (should I see it pull in?).
This is after I've replaced compensator, adjuster and starter....what am I not doing right, or what do i need to check? Thanks guys, steve |
I watched a couple of You Tube videos on clutch adjustment when mine started slipping right after my cam install. There is a sweet spot for the engagement that's not too hard to find. This solved my slipping issue.

Did you first adjust the cable all the way in before you adjusted the clutch?
Check the clutch ramp and make sure the balls are in place. |
Thanks...yes, I'm doing all of this to a T. However, when i go to pull in the lever it's like it doesn't 'pull' anything. Not broken cable feel, the exact opposite, where it's really hard to pull. Hard to describe i guess....

I’m right in assuming that after I adjust and pull on lever, that I should see some movement in here, right?https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.hdf...5b50f808fd.jpg |
Yes you should see some movement...however:
I think the problem lies where the cable goes into the tranny...there is a ramp inside the cover that provides pull leverage to the clutch basket. The ramp could be not moving smoothly as designed...I would check that before doing anything else with the clutch. Good luck. |
I would be working on pulling the cover off the other side right now if I were you. |
So is this correct? The clutch worked properly. Then you replaced the starter, compensator, and adjuster....never taking the cover off on the other side of the bike...and now the clutch doesn’t work? |
