Speed sensor?!

2014 Fat Bob, speedo stops showing speed and gear while riding. In certain instances when I slow down to stop the bike stops running and I am forced to coast into a stop to restart the bike. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The fuel injection system needs info from the speedo for the system to work correctly. When the speedo quits working, then it's common for the bike to stall when coming to a stop. Take a look at the VSS wiring to make sure that looks good. You can also try removing & cleaning the VSS to see if it starts working again and cures your stalling problem.

Thanks for the response and explanation. I've located the vss, and boy is it a sucker to get to. I can't seem to trace the wires to where it should be connected. I lose the 3 wires in the harness and I have no idea if it connected via connector, or if the wires split up in the harness. I'd hate to cut open the black sheathing protecting the wires but I may have to. Unless someone can afford some insight. Thanks again

Don't cut anything open. Just check the plug to make sure the connections look good. Try removing & cleaning the VSS. Sometimes they accumulate some metal fuzz on them & stop working.

Usually if cleaning it doesn't work it will need to be replaced. Never understood why, but, it worked with mine.

mine went intermittantly with typical TSS symptoms, bike seemed to idle funny but never stalled. On my bike its under the starter. just replaced it. wasnt much. few years no problems.

Well, it does look like a mission to check, so I just ordered a new one to replace it with since I'm going to be down there anyway. Thanks for the help folks. I'll update once I get that thing out of there.
