I believe it is called a tripod mount( it came with one of the cameras I snagged off EBay). Basically a flat bottom with female threads that would screw onto tripod....

What bike? If its the RG in your avatar then I would worry about the extra weight on the screw and vibration/shock from bumps causing stress cracks on your outer faring.

The RAP-B-379U-252025 length is only 1/4 inch as I understand it. My fairing/windshield bolts are 1/2 inch. Did the RAM ball attachment you use screw in tight enough to hold your camera securely? I'm concerned that it would not be long enough to hold the camera securely.

I think RAM got the length dimension wrong. Just count the threads in the pic I get 10, which would mean it is 1/2 inch long.
