We haven't had to press out cams in the touring bikes for many years.

You shouldn't have any problems at all with your car mechanic skills. Here's good write up a member did that ended up inspiring me to do mine myself.

S&S also has a YouTube video on changing cams. Between S&S and fuel moto videos you should have no problems getting it done.

Look at the videos and see if you think you can do it, I did and I thought I could do it, and I did... really wasn’t that complicated... I have a manual, watch the videos, rented a blind hole puller, just tapped in the new cams with a seal installation tool. Rode it for another 40000 miles. I would do it again.

Between the videos, a service manual, and this forum you should be good. Just provided you have all the appropriate tools.

This is a good thread. I have a set of SE 255's in my basement, waiting to go on my 07 Road King. Probably a next winter project. Picked them because they were a little more aggressive than stock and they bolt on with no other changes. Probably get the kit from FM when I'm ready to go. And I'll be sure to check tensioners (although they should be ok in my 07).

If you are technically proficient and detail orientated you will have no problem.

You will have to invest in a service manual and specialized tools.

If you're thinking gear drive check your crank runout before ordering your cams. Excess runout will keep you in chains.

I did it... you can do it...

Got bearings, push rods, cams, lifters, and gasket kit from Fuel Moto.

Service Manual a must.
You Tube Videos for sure.
Bearing Puller you bet.
Torque Wrenches yessir.

i did Andrews 26h which are similar to 255 and wish I had done Andrews 48. The 255 will be an improvement over stock don’t get me wrong but I feel like I left something on the table.
