Default 17 street glide fork oil leak

so last weekend while cleaning the bike, I noticed some fluid that looked like it had splashed onto my primary. I figured something just got on the bike, and I cleaned it off.

Tonight I went for a ride, and notice the same thing again. I started tracing the fluid back, and foun it splashed on my highway bars too. I ended up tracing the fluid back to the left fork. It appears I have a bad fork seal.

So here is my question for anyone who had a fork seal fail while your bike was under warranty.....
Did your dealer cover it under warranty?... or did they claim that it is a wear item and stick you with the bill?

Should be done under warranty without question.

Well it is a wear item but unless you put 50,000 miles on your bike already it should be covered

You should be well within the 24 month warranty period?

I am, but I have heard instances of Harley not covering some things under warranty, claiming that they are wear items.

My 2016 Road Glide had 11,000 miles on it and one month left on the original factory warranty.

They replaced the right rear, leaking shock, free of charge, no questions asked.

Leaking fork seal is warranty work, trick is getting a dealer to do it in less than 3 weeks this time of year.

May want to check your neck bearing grease. When its hot out & bike parked leaning left, it melts and runs down the left fork 'simulating' a leak. Check your triple tree.

That’s right. Just thought my left fork tube was leaking last week. The oil from the grease actually got inside the fork can and ran down onto lower left fork leg. Just a little but hell I didn’t want to pull everything apart. Traced it right to the lower neck bearing grease and seeping through some small open spots on top of can. Had a cold beer on that one and celebrated !!
