Street Glide Shock Length

What is the recommended shock length for a 2011 Street Glide? I have asked the OEM shock length at the parts department at two different HD dealerships and got two different answers.

the stock shocks are 12'', for the ultras, 13''. recommended length? up to you. do you want additional lean angle and ground clearance? or do you want to lower the bike and get more flatfoot?

It’s 12” on the Steetglides. If you’re looking to upgrade your ride ...get some Pro Action shocks, they have 12” shocks that’ll make a world of difference. Go to 13” shocks and you’ll be even happier.

Call DK customs and they’ll hook you up with a set of shocks that come with a lifetime warranty, free rebuilds and excellent customer service/support

That being said, any opinions (haha...certainly yes!) on an upgrade shock to put on my 2018 FLHXSE?? And, I'm assuming the 12" would be stock height and the 13" would give me a touch more clearance? I love laying this baby down in the turns but very seldom scape the bottom of the bags and love my stock height as it is. Thanks, CC

The full dressers come with 13". So nothing should need changing if you up size to 13". you will barely notice the ride hide difference sitting on it.

If you upgrade, go with 13 inch shocks because they have more stroke, which provides more dampening before bottoming out. On most 12 inch shocks, the amount of sag swet is dceducted from the stroke. Leaving very little to absorb the hits without bottoming out.

There are some shocks (Ohlins, Legends etc) that are 13 inch that sit like a 12 inch shock, but still have the greater stroke. So if ride heigth is a concern, look for 13 inch shocks maintain the 12 inch ride heigth. Either way, I'd check the amount of strike on any replacement shock before considering them.

Two bolts on each side, and you’ll answer your own question.

I can tell you they fit on my 04.

Ended up with the Legends

And, for what it’s worth, I’ve adjusted the shit outta them and still notice zero difference from stock shocks. WTF 🤷‍♂️ Use the dough elsewhere.

/The gold sure looks purdy on the Lava Orange CVO however, so there’s that……😆
