I did the same thing to my EG. The saddle bag guards were hitting her in the back of the leg. I removed the saddlebag guards, installed the bar that holds up the bags and moved the foot boards to the highest position. Voila! Problem solved.

Plan on it then. Moving the tour pack back will almost guarantee they will hit the back of her calves.

Comfort for both can be a long, sometimes never ending battle.

I don't think it's been said here yet but it fully applies. If she's not happy, you won't be either.

adjustable passenger floorboards. most likely set at the lowest setting.

money well spent.

and make more frequent stops. (forget this part if you are young)

I think that moving her back some should help. Being moved back, she won't have to spread her legs so far possibly.
I had a Mustang solo that was too wide for me, and caused a LOT of hip pain because my legs
were too far apart putting pressure on the hip socket. The more the legs are spread, the more likely
it will cause hip pain IMO
