Default 2012 Ultra classic clutch cable and handlebar swap

Hi, I am doing a handlebar swap and a longer clutch cable for a friend. Do I have to remove the Batwing? Can I tie a shoelace like most people say? What about handlebar wiring? I want to internal wire it. Thanks in advance!

I'd remove the fairing. It's not hard and I've found taking the extra time to do something right will usually save time and almost always save on problems.

100% agree. Do it the correct way once and not worry about what ifs.

Pulling the fairing is the easy part. Getting access to the right side trans cover to remove it is the hard part. May have to remove the exhaust, but for sure need to loosen it to get it far enough away to remove the cover.

On my 2012 Ultra I can get the side cover off and on by just removing the exhaust heat shield but I have a Fuel Moto head pipe. A stock head pipe may not be as easy.

This is a point I;m at, looking at putting in a new clutch cable (2012 Ultra) and an Ez-Clutch type kit (maybe Burly), need to pull trans cover. Looks like most of the work is messing w/ the pipes...and to get them off prob need to remove drivers floorboard etc. Its a winter project but is on my mind. Fairing removal def the easy part.
