What are the real Advantages of a removable touring trunk pack
Been thinking about buying a removable trunk kit for my 17 Ultra Classic what are the advantages in doing this it cant be that much liter, is the ride better would like to hear from those who have done this modification before i shell out the cash for it.

Good question. In my mind, unless someone can come up with a good reason that I agree with I don't get it. I'd have to justify the cost of the kit, how often I'd actually remove the trunk, antenna relocation costs, storage of the trunk once removed, etc etc......... if there isn't a positive benefit other than just a cosmetic or "look" change then (IMHO) it's not something I would consider.

NONE!
It takes 2 min to unbolt one and unplug it.
These are for the waxnposers who want to stare at their toy from the bar room window and talk about what is kool-
As they have no freekin clue cause they follow the latest fads and styles.
They talk about AMF, costume clothes with lots of boogyman patches, and of course .....wax.
And drink cheap **** shety beer!

I can remove the tourpak on my old Glide in a few minutes, using a wrench and the qd wiring connector I installed. The only advantage of the later detachable rack is if you like the clean stripped-down look. But as it is obviously a darned great Glide and full dresser that seems a lost cause to me!

Two things... the bike is shorter without the tourpak on... and if you like the solo look you won't want it on. In my case, since I am riding a Road King, I am not after the full dresser look... but when I travel long distance and go camping or take a passenger with me, it is a necessary evil.

I ride with my tour pak off 95% of the time, same when I had my 2012. The bike feels different, and even sounds different (I'm guessing the tour pak blocks some of the sound). The bike is definitely lighter. I also like to run my Corbin Solo without the pillion and that definitely changes the looks.
I'm just sayin' IMO I like the bike better without the tour pak on it.
Now, you ask, then why didn't you buy a street glide? I have the tour pak for trips, it has the lowers, it has the aux lights and it also has 3/4" more travel in the rear suspension and I believe it rides better than a street glide. If you bought a street glide and add a tour pak, it will cost more than an Ultra.

other than being quick detachable I can't think of any. Depends on how you like ride, really. Seems most detachable tour pacs spend a lot of time sitting on a shelf. My last pac was bolt on but I do like the quick detach gear when it comes time to install or remove.
