DIY Tire Mounting
Are there any DIY tire mounters on the forum? If so, please share info about the equipment you use.
Time for new tires. Also plan to add FOBO with metal t-stems and Dyna Beads. I always do my own work, except tires; but, thought I would look into doing it myself this time. Would consider an indie if I can find one willing to mount tires at a decent price without having to buy the tires through him. TIA, Rob |
We mount our own, father has a tire machine. Makes for short work of it and every time it seems to get easier. Also run dyna beads in them |

i've done both of mine and i will never do them again without a tire machine. you will get a workout

Youtube it, you will find a couple interesting tricks.
I have not ever tried the wire tie idea-but it looks promising too. Depending on which wheels I am working on I do mine the old way. Tire irons. |
I just put another rear tire on mine with long HF tire irons; much easier than the dozens of dirt bike tires I've done in the past.

OP, Pooling your money might be an option if you have buddies that want to go in with you. |
I do the tires on my Flathead with old school irons. PITA but at the end of the day, less then an hour and it is over. Easier then going to a shop and standing around waiting.

I buy my tires online, then pull the wheels and take them to local independent shop. Costs $40 per wheel to remove old tire, install new and balance. I've thought about trying it myself but would not be able to properly balance.
