What's Driving This Price?

I'll be the first to admit that I don't know squat about what drives prices on these bikes, but $43k for a used 2018 really surprised me. Every time I think I want a newer model, prices like this make me appreciate what I have.

Its a CVO or "Custom Vehicle Operations" in theory the bike has all the add-ons, and a limited run on color/paint code etc. Maybe someone who owns a CVO will chime in, but they are "limited run " bikes and are priced a bit higher. They should also hold a higher value.

Even the best CVO still dozen match up to other motorcycles that go for 32,000 bucks just not worth the money.

As long as people keep paying it, they'll keep charging it. Simple as that. No way on God's green earth would I ever pay CLOSE to that much for one motorcycle.

They're ( pretty much ) asking retail price for that scooter ... I've seen one in person and it is quite nice but not Forty Something Thousand Dollars nice

So they have a used bike priced at new bike numbers, sounds about right :icon_slap2:

In my fifty years of riding and having owned virtually every brand of scooter I have only purchased a few bikes new. My frugal side tells me to let the other guy pay full retail and take the depreciation. Same with autos.
Bikes are leisure toys so there are many low miles, like new, used bikes at attractive prices. $43K ain't one of them!

CVO's, Anniversary editions etc. they all cost a bit more, but in theory hold a higher resale value. I am frugal, and basically have "Base model" bikes. But I ride them and am not too concerned with resale value. When I seel, my bikes will have miles on them, so will be willing to entertain offers. i suppose the CVOs and whatnot are for people who see the bikes as investments.

There is a dealer in Jackson Missouri with a brand new 2018 RG and they knocked almost $6000 off the list price. So no way their used one is worth that.
