Road Glides
I don't know about the new RGUs but my special is a LOT lighter than my old 11RGU and has better wind and rain protection as well. The difference in weight is really apparent when you get the old and newer bikes on a curvy roads. My old 11 model had to be thrown into corners and my 17 seems to just fall into the turns with no effort

OP, plenty to consider here. The newer the bike the more complicated maintenance gets with ECM and all that it controls. This has ups and downs so figure out what you want.

If it fits you budget go 2009 or newer The new frame and tire size fit the size of the bike better.
I have owned a 2007 RG, 2011 RGU, 2013 RGU , 2016 RGU and now a 2017 RGU. All have served me well, each has been better the the last one. I never understood the buffeting some talk about. The 2015 and newer faring offers you more options with the venting.
Not a one of them gave me any grief in a lot of miles. Except the 2011 all are still on the road. The 2011 went to scrape yard I totaled it .
