At the very least, I would never buy any vehicle without a Carfax report. They are not infallible but they are certainly worth the $40.
If the above post is correct and you have bought a salvaged titled bike, you may be in for a lot more than you bargained for. On the other hand, and if you have no intention of selling it, it may last you a long time and you may never have any problems greater than the rest of us deal with. But either way, I'd just ride it and fix what needs fixin' when it needs fixin'.

As I said before, there are certainly circumstances where a wrecked vehicle can be repaired / restored without receiving a salvage title.
If the op has the title in hand he will certainly have no trouble determining if he holds a salvage title or mearly a repaired bike.

If I'm not mistaken cruise was standard on the Ultra and optional on the classic. I believe the Ultra would have had the communication system, higher output radio and rear speakers as well. I believe that that is a newer radio.
So what you have is a 2004 peace officer ultra with bodywork / tank and possibly the entire front end (along with radio/gauges/bars/controls) from a slightly newer classic model. ( I think 2006 or 2007 was the first year of that radio and 2008 would be a 6 gallon tank).
Looks like most of the "Ultra" trim has been removed.

If he has a salvage title then the title will state that. It will be very obvious.

If your bike has cruise control, you will have 3 cables to the carb/FI unit. Also, there will be a roll-off swtich on the idle cable, which shuts off the cruise when you crank the throttle closed. seeing the power switch and the cruise light lit up on the dash, tells me you have at least part of the cc on the bike. I tried to find a pic of my bike to show a few differences between the Classic, and the UltraClassic, but can't find any useful. BTW, mine is an '06 Firefighter edition, and the title says: 'model' FLHT-SHRN. Here's a pic with the lower fairings removed. Other than that, basically just as I bought it
: FLHT-SHRN.
: FLHT-SHRN.
