Default Upgrade rims

05 Road King Custom, pretty much a dresser but I want to upgrade rims/ wheels. Want to go up to 21 on front....does this require any modification? Should I size up rear also? Also wrap style fender.....pro cons? Want to do several custom touches, this is just begining

I have a 19" I put on my 01 Road King. Indy did it but pretty sure the rotors had to be shimmed for taller clearance.
Now I have a 21" that will be going on my Road Glide hopefully next week. Hoping the only modification I will need is a fender adapter.

If you used a later spec wheel, the rotors are indeed a bit larger in diameter, so to fit your bike and front calipers they would need to be skimmed a little.

On my even older bike and to use a later 18" wheel, I swapped to later sliders as well, so I could use Brembo calipers and the larger rotors.

Put an early (pre ‘08) 21” wheel on my ‘09. Actually changed axle rather changing wheel bearings. Rotors will bolt on. Stock fender just needs to be tipped up a bit (wallow rear bolt holes). Wrap, or any style, fender is a looks thing as is. 21” front. If ya want the rear to match the front most are 17-18”. I left the stock 16” on my RG with 21” (yes you can still see it even with stretched bags) and have a 17” x200 on my “09. Neither lowered or have/had any problems. I have heard of problems with 18”s??

Just a word of warning, when you go to the bigger wheels you go to lower profile tires and the rims can get damaged easier. On my 2012 RGU I just went from the stock wheels to Enforcer wheels with the 19” front. I have bent and replaced the front wheel (and tire as if the wheel gets bent I figure the tire took a bad hit too) twice on potholes. I like the look of the bigger wheel and low profile tire but it has been expensive. I almost put the stock wheels back on the last time.
