Default Carbureted Road Kings

What years were Road Kings available with a carburetor? Specifically was 2001 available with a carb? From what I can find it looks like it was.

Thanks.

Well my buddy had a 2005 with a Carb from the factory, so I would say yes available in 2001.

Wink

You can check such things using a parts website. In 2005 both carb and EFI RKs were produced.

Not a Road King but my 2003 Fat Boy is carbed. I believe 2006 was the last year that HD did carbs in the Road King......if not DEFINITELY 2005 as my friend has a carbed 2005.

I can vouch for 2006 w carb as that is what mine is. 2007 first year with only fuel injection and no carb.

FWIW......

Not sure why you asked, but if it's because you are looking to buy an '01 Road King, I would strongly suggest you get one with the carb. The CV40 carb was unappreciated and under rated. It's easy to tune/clean/rebuild.... and once dialed in, your bike would run great!

As far as EFI for a 2001...... '01 was the first year for the Delphi EFI, but only in the softail models. The touring models didn't get the Delphi EFI until '02, so any '01 EFI Road King should have the Magneti-Marelli fuel injection... better to go carb instead of MM FI ....
