Default single filaments

I have an '08 FLHT. The rear turn signals are single filaments, designed only as signals. I have a little item I bought from Harley that plugs right into the tail lamp /signal harness, and turns the signal lamps into running/signal, and brake lights. So, they are always lit, but brighten up substantially when signals or brakes are applied. So, regardless of naysayers, it IS possible to have them service as multi-use, even only with a single filament. Even on the run function, they don't appear to be operating on reduced voltage, which generally dims the lights. They are just as bright on run function as the fronts, with dual filaments.

I've got one of those modules too. That's not the OP's issue.
The bike is new to him and he assumed the rear were run/brake/turn.
He's now aware he was mistaken.
But has other issues

Add to that, no turn signals work at all, either side. What I can see of the wiring looks good. This bike has been treated very gently in 27 years.
Try this link … it should take you to the Wiring Diagrams & Electrical Troubleshooting Guide - 1991 & 1992 All Models. You'll be able to look up wiring diagrams for your bike. It also has a troubleshooting guide that has a section about the turn signal module.

I bought a module from HD dealer for this. Just removed seat, unplugged a connector, plugged the module into the connectors. Now the rear turn signal lights are on with the lights and the turn signal blinks off and on, Love it, more lights never hurt.

Default 1996 FLHRi rear blinker convert to run/ blink

Ok... here goes. I have a 1996 FLHRi Road King and want to make my rear turn signals at least running and turn (would like brake, but not necessary). Can I switch the 1156 socket to an 1157 somehow?

You could, but not w/o modifying the wiring harness. Easier to add a module to do this w/o rewiring. replacing bulb sockets & bulbes.

Welcome to the FORUM.
Single filament = single function = Signal lights
Dual element = Running light & Stop light

3 different circuits and functions. (4 if you want to count each signal)
